Daniel V. Hiatt, Sr.
Dan provides private companies with solid, practical business counsel that draws upon four decades of experience and firsthand knowledge of a family business. Often acting as a company’s outside general counsel, Dan takes pride in going beyond the financial statements to address the human concerns in mergers and acquisitions, contracts, compensation and tax planning.
Dan has served clients in health care, construction, distribution, service and manufacturing. He is adept at helping owners let go of their companies on the right terms and under the right circumstances, whether it’s selling to a third party, passing on to the next generation or transitioning to key employees.
He is well-suited to help clients navigate the IRS; he has a master’s degree in taxation and worked as an IRS revenue agent prior to attending law school. Dan is also well-versed on the business issues that affect medical practices. He frequently advises individual doctors and physician groups on business, tax and estate planning matters.
